During the Spring 2026 semester of social studies, Mrs. Carney and Ms. Ocampo’s 6th grade classes at Churchville Middle School explored the lasting legacies of second-wave civilizations. Students were guided by the inquiry statement: "I can create a digital museum panel for the Elmhurst History Museum in order to help our community recognize how second-wave civilizations still influence our world today." These digital museum panels were created for the Elmhurst History Museum as part of the D205 "Informed Action" curriculum to help our community recognize the historical roots of our modern world.

The Elmhurst History Museum was thrilled to partner with D205 on this project and support the Informed Action curriculum by helping students share their hard work and critical thinking skills with the Elmhurst community at large. We hope that by hosting this virtual exhibition on our website, Elmhurst citizens beyond Churchville Middle School will have the opportunity to learn more about ancient civilizations and their lasting impacts on modern society, taking learning beyond the bounds of traditional classrooms.

While all the students in Mrs. Carney and Ms. Ocampo’s classes created panels of their own in small teams, the below 13 panels were specially selected by the students themselves to represent the best and most impactful work from both classes.

These panels will be on display at elmhursthistory.org through May 31st, 2026. Please enjoy!
