The Elmhurst History Museum, 120 E Park Ave., is happy to announce the appointment of Emma Marston as Curator of Education and Public Programs. In her new role, Emma will oversee the museum’s education department and public programs, including introducing an exciting summer concert series at the museum’s new outdoor public performance space.
With her deep industry expertise, Emma will produce and facilitate a variety of school programs, from living history experiences at the Churchville One-Room Schoolhouse and museum field trips, to portable in-classroom programs. She will also present a range of programs for scout groups in addition to adult lectures and the museum’s Memories Matter: Senior Recollections program. In her new role, Emma is looking forward to creating engaging and innovative programs that connect students, families, and adults to Elmhurst’s unique local history.

Emma earned her M.A. in Museum Studies from IU Indianapolis and holds a B.A. from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Prior to joining the Elmhurst History Museum team, Emma served as the Interpretive Curator at the Des Plaines History Center. In this capacity, she oversaw all school services, designed and delivered programs for all ages, supervised and managed the museum’s docent program, worked with stakeholders to develop community programming, and contributed to exhibit development and gallery activities. Throughout her career, Emma has held positions at a variety of cultural institutions, including nearby Village of Bartlett Museum and the Midway Village Museum, where she worked to interpret the organization’s one-room schoolhouse. Emma has also served as a historic home guide at Nashville Zoo and served as the Clowes Fellow at the Indianapolis Zoo.
The Elmhurst History Museum is open 1 – 5 p.m. Sunday & Tuesday – Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, and closed Monday. For additional information, please visit www.elmhursthistory.org.
